Beech Group won the contract to demolish a steel framed building and carry out renovations and improvements for a new client HCA as part of the Ancoats regeneration programme. The outer walls were all repaired as the building has significant heritage. All other steelwork and brick work was demolished and processed for recycling. We reduced the outer walls down to 3.5m, various pillars were also repaired and five new pillars were built. The walls left standing were prepared for re-pointing, lintels were removed from archways and raised and uneven slabs were broken out. Extra asbestos found in the ground was removed and several drains were rerouted. All soft spots were dug out and new footings were built before pin kerbs were installed, as it will be used as a car park in the future. This complex programme of works was carried out to the clients satisfaction, on time and on budget.
